Export formats and image quality
Understanding Lume's output format and template canvas sizes
Quick Answer
Lume exports all generated images as PNG files at one of three resolutions: 1K (1024px), 2K (2048px), or 4K (4096px) on the longest edge. Each template has a preset aspect ratio (square, portrait, or landscape) that is optimized for the scene. Pick the resolution from the editor toolbar before you generate — 1K on every plan, 2K and 4K on Business and Studio.
Export Format
PNG — Lossless
All Lume generations are exported as PNG files for maximum quality and compatibility, at the resolution you select before generating.
Output Resolution
Pick a resolution from the toolbar before you generate. The aspect ratio always comes from the template; the resolution sets how many pixels long the longest edge is. 1K is included on every plan; 2K and 4K are on Business and Studio.
1K — 1024px on the longest edge (1 credit)
The default. Perfect for ecommerce thumbnails, product listings, social media, and ads. Available on every plan, including Free.
2K — 2048px on the longest edge (2 credits)
Recommended for Amazon zoom imagery, Shopify hero shots, and retina displays. Available on Business and Studio.
4K — 4096px on the longest edge (3 credits)
For print, packaging, billboards, and large-format displays. Available on Business and Studio.
Template Aspect Ratios
Each template is built for a specific aspect ratio. Pixel dimensions scale up automatically when you choose 2K or 4K — the long edge below shows the 1K baseline.
Square (1:1) — baseline 1024x1024
The most common format. Ideal for product listings on Shopify, Amazon, Etsy, and social media posts. Scales to 2048x2048 (2K) or 4096x4096 (4K).
Portrait (2:3) — baseline 1024x1536
Vertical format suited for tall products or scenes with vertical compositions. Scales up proportionally at 2K and 4K.
Landscape (3:2) — baseline 1536x1024
Wide format for scenes that benefit from a horizontal composition. Scales up proportionally at 2K and 4K.
